prf15-p2 fusion + G chaperone
N terminal part of the tail fiber protein (prf15) from Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 fused with the C terminal part of the P2 bacteriophage tail fiber protein alongside its chaperone. Allows Pyocin particles to targets a wide range of E. coli strains and K and B strains (that are common in labs) specifically. The fused protein forms a tail that connects to the baseplate of the Pyocin on one side, and to the membrane of the rival bacteria on the other. This attachment is the first step in the process of attacking E. coli. The fusion is of A.A 1 to 164 of the R2 type pyocin tail fiber and the C-terminal 512 A.A of the bacteriophage P2 tail fiber, alongside bacteriophage P2 tail assembly chaperone.
